- Standard double sided adhesive on a high surface energy (HSE) substrate will achieve excellent wet-out and strong adhesion
- Standard tape on a low surface energy (LSE) substrate will have poor wet-out and weak bonding performance
- LSE adhesive tape applied to LSE substrates will achieve excellent wet-out and optimal bond strength
All substrates have different levels of “surface energy”, which determines how well an adhesive can bond (wet-out) to the surface.
Higher surface energy materials allow easier adhesion and stronger bonding due to greater surface contact.
