Key Features of the Orange EPX Nozzle

  • Dedicated 10:1 Drive Mechanism: Features a dedicated internal geometry/interface that ensures the 10:1 components are blended homogeneously without back-feeding or blocking.
  • Trimable Tapered Tip: Allows you to cut the nozzle end to adjust the bead size to your application's requirements.
  • Temporary Seal: Leaving a used nozzle attached to an open cartridge seals the material inside between uses.

Can I reuse an orange mixing nozzle after dispensing?

No. Once you stop dispensing and the adhesive reaches its working/gel time inside the nozzle, it will harden and block the mixing elements.

  • For short pauses: If you resume dispensing before the adhesive gels inside the nozzle, you can continue using it.
  • For longer breaks/storage: Leave the used nozzle attached to the cartridge. The cured adhesive inside the nozzle creates an airtight seal that protects the unused adhesive inside the cartridge. When you are ready to use the adhesive again, simply twist off the old nozzle, wipe the cartridge neck clean, and attach a fresh orange nozzle.

Why does 3M use a square / static geometry for the orange nozzle?

The square static mixing element is designed to thoroughly blend 10 parts base to 1 part catalyst in a shorter nozzle length. The compact footprint allows the applicator tip to get closer to intricate joint geometries while minimizing material waste inside the mixer.

Should I purge a small amount of material before applying it to my joint?

Yes. Always purge a small bead of material (about the length of the nozzle) onto a scrap piece of paper or cardboard after attaching a new nozzle. This ensures that any air trapped in the neck is removed and that both parts A and B are flowing evenly and fully mixed before you apply the adhesive to your final bond area.
