For this innovative product, Tesa has developed a packaging tape solution designed with sustainability in mind. The backing material used for Tesa 60400 is PLA (polylactic acid), which is produced from renewable resources such as corn starch, tapioca roots, and sugarcane. This allows the tape to achieve a high bio-carbon content and reduced carbon footprint compared to traditional fossil-based packaging tapes.

The adhesive system is also designed using renewable feedstocks, combining natural rubber with natural-based resins to reduce reliance on fossil-based materials while maintaining strong packaging performance.
