Die Cut Double Sided Tape For LSE (Low Surface Energy) Plastic Applications

We supply Die Cut Double Sided Tape For LSE (Low Surface Energy) Plastic Applications Australia Wide ! Bonding low surface energy (LSE) plastics can be one of the most frustrating challenges in manufacturing, product design, and assembly. Materials like polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polytetrafluorethylene (PTFE), thermoplastic olefins (TPOs), thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs), High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), composites, and polyester and powder-coated paints are notorious for repelling standard adhesives, leading to premature bond failure, peeling, and delamination, basically not sticking, falling off the product you are adhering the die cut tape too. When you need a precise, high-performance solution, die cut double sided tape engineered for LSE plastics is the industry-standard choice. We have a range of different VHB & High Bond Double Sided Tape, available in different thickness's from 3M, Stylus & Tenacious Tape that can be die cut to your required designs. All designed for use on a wide variety of hard to stick, LSE - Low Surface Energy Plastic. We also supply samples for product testing before committing to an order if required. What are the Advantages of Die Cutting for LSE Tape Applications

Die cutting transforms rolls of high-performance double-sided tape into precise shapes, sizes, and configurations tailored to your exact product geometry.

  • Zero Waste & Clean Edges: Custom die cuts eliminate manual trimming, reducing material waste and production time.

  • Exact Fit: Whether you need tiny circular dots for electronics housings, intricate gaskets, or frame-hugging perimeters, die cut parts fit complex assembly spaces perfectly.

  • Efficiency in Production: Supplied on rolls or in "kiss-cut" sheet formats with easy-peel release liners, die cut parts streamline high-speed manual or automated pick-and-place assembly.

  • Consistency: Every piece is identical, ensuring uniform bond strength and aesthetic appeal across thousands of manufactured units.

Die cut LSE double-sided tapes are relied upon across numerous industries where mechanical fasteners (screws, rivets) are impractical, heavy, or visually unappealing,

Industrial Applications For Die Cut LSE Tape Include:

  • Automotive: Bonding PP interior trim, TPO body side moldings, badge attachment, and mirror gaskets.

  • Electronics: Securing LSE plastic bezels, lens mounting, touch-screen assemblies, and battery insulation barriers.

  • Signage & Point of Purchase (POP): Mounting plastic display panels, acrylic shelving, and promotional graphics to textured walls or plastic substrates.

  • Appliance Manufacturing: Attaching decorative control panels, plastic overlays, and dampening pads.

We Die Cut High Bond Double Sided VHB Tape designed for Low Surface Energy Plastic / LSE into any shape, design, gasket you require. We supply these products to Sydney, Brisbane, Canberra, Wollongong, Newcastle, Melbourne, Hobart, Adelaide, Perth, Darwin & right across Australia.

FAQs

What is Low Surface Energy (LSE) Plastic?

To understand why standard tapes fail, you first need to understand surface energy.

Surface energy is measured in dynes per centimeter (dynes/cm). High surface energy materials (like glass, aluminum, and nylon) pull liquids and adhesives inward, allowing the adhesive to "wet out" or flow smoothly into microscopic pores, creating a strong mechanical and chemical bond.

LSE plastics typically measure below 38 dynes/cm. Because their molecular structure lacks polarity, liquids and conventional pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSAs) bead up rather than spread out. Without intimate surface contact, the adhesive cannot anchor effectively.

Common LSE Materials Requiring Specialized Tape:

  • Polyethylene (PE): High-density (HDPE) and Low-density (LDPE)—used in bottles, films, and automotive components.
  • Polypropylene (PP): Widely used in packaging, automotive trim, and consumer appliances.
  • Thermoplastic Polyolefins (TPO): Common in automotive bumpers and interior dashboards.
  • Acetal / Delrin: Used in precision gears and mechanical parts.
  • Powder-Coated Surfaces: Textured and cured finishes designed to resist chemical adhesion
