3M Thermal Bonding Film 583 is a high strength, flexible, nitrile phenolic based thermoplastic bonding film. It can be heat or solvent activated for bonding. This film can also be lightly crosslinked using a post heat exposure. This crosslinking will provide additional heat and solvent resistance as well as somewhat higher shear strengths. 3M Scotch 583 must be stored at or below 4°C (40°F) for maximum storage life.
PLEASE NOTE; As of March 1st, 2024, the product appearance of Scotchweld 583 Thermal Bonding Film has changed from a brown adhesive (tape) with a white liner, to a clear adhesive on a clear film. This updated product looks nothing like it did previously, but still works exactly the same. A full explanation is provided on the product attachment below if you scoll down.

Scotch-Weld 583 bonding film is a flexible, 100% solids, heat or solvent activated dry film adhesive composed of synthetic elastomer, thermoplastic and thermosetting resins. The film softens and flows when either heat or solvents are applied and provides a strong, permanent bond to the surface to which it is applied. 3M Scotch 583 "Heat Tape" is capable of developing structural type bonds if properly thermoset during heat activation. The thermoset bond providesultimate heat, and chemical resistance for critical applications.Scotchweld 583 Foil Stamping Tape is also know as - Die Weld Tape - Film, Heat Bonding Tape, Heat weld Tape, Die Bonding Tape.
